Architect’s plan of the Gallions Music Centre

“Gallions is a wonderful school, where music is at the heart of the curriculum. The development of the Gallions Music Centre will enable many more children to benefit from high quality music-making and draw in the wider community, resulting in a vibrant and creative centre of excellence.” Philip Flood, CEO of Sound Connections The Gallions Music Trust is delighted to announce that work has commenced on the construction of the Gallions Music Centre, a designated music facility to be used by Gallions Primary School and the local community. The music centre, which is due for completion in December 2014, will create 4 small to medium practice rooms and a large classroom-sized space, as well as a fully accessible WC. At present, space within the main school building for musical activities is extremely limited due to rooms being required to cater for ever-increasing pupil numbers, and the space created as part of the new building will ensure that music can continue to take a central role in the life and ethos of the school. The building will be constructed at the back of Gallions Primary School’s Garden of Life, a beautiful memorial garden for a former student which was designed to provide an area of inspiration and relaxation for students and staff alike. In addition, its proximity to one of the school’s car park makes it accessible to members of the community, and the Gallions Music Trust is planning a programme of inspiring community music activities which will take advantage of its ideal location.
