A day in the life of a Music Manager

Back in March just before school closures became a reality Ashley Roye Gallions Primary School Music manager attempted to capture a day in his life at the school showcasing the many different activities he gets up to on a day at the school.

He managed to pick a particularly busy day which featured two orchestra rehearsals, two year group String concerts and a year group string rotation and ending the day with afterschool instrumental lessons and of course emails.

The role of a Music Manager at a school like Gallions is an amazing one as it means you have someone to organise and host concerts, capture images and videos to document the moments. Make sure children are in the right places at the right time and that you have orchestras full of children engaged keen and eager to learn, play and have fun. Above all else a Music teacher enables the teachers to focus on teaching whilst the chilldren get the benefit of the incredibly powerful experiences that music can provide and all the skills that you can learn by picking up an instrument.

The video below gives you a slight insight into the role and a glimpse of what can be achieved if more school’s invested in a role like the Music Manager to help enhance music education outcomes.
