On Friday 7th July the Gallions Senior Orchestra performed to hundreds of visitors at the Tower of London as part of Water City Music (http://watercitymusic.com/).
We travelled by coach to the Tower and set up on the Bowling Green Stage. The 40-strong orchestra performed three twenty-minute sets to crowds of visitors to one of London’s most famous historic landmarks. We performed a number of the pieces that we have learned this academic year including Vivaldi’s Spring, Ode to Joy, Valse and Amazing Grace (featuring year 6 pupil Cristina as soloist).
In between performances we were able to explore the Tower of London. We saw the scaffold site where two of Henry VIII’s wives were beheaded, watched the guards changing in front of the Crown Jewels and heard all about the ravens who reside at the Tower.
Thank you to Michael Bochmann (https://www.michaelbochmann.com/) for giving Gallions pupils this amazing experience!
