On July 1st Opera Up Close premiered their production of Peace At Last at Gallions. It is a production that has been over a year in the making with the Gallions Music Trust first contributing £5000 to the costs of creating the production. Then the composers, actors, musicians and producers came to Gallions taking over our musicianship lessons with our reception children and testing different ideas for the opera. This allowed them to see how the children reacted to different ideas and create the finished production.
On the day our Y1, Reception and SEN children were treated to watching their first ever Opera in the school hall. They were wowed by the magical set design and then delighted as the characters that they had read about in a storybook were brought to life by the cast in front of their very eyes. Listening to their wonderful voices as well as the accompaniment of the harp and clarinet opened up a whole new world for the children.
It really was a special experience for all who watched (not just the children) and something that all children should see and hear as a perfect introduction into the world of Opera.
