The Gallions Music Trust held their first event in the community with the school’s first recital concert. The event was a condition of the funding the Trust received from the Lyles Local Fund which helped us provide bursaries for children receiving additional instrumental lessons at Gallions this past academic year. To show the progress the children had made over the year we took the children to the Rotunda gallery in the Beckton Globe Library to each perform a solo piece for parents and members of the community.
The concert was a massive success with 16 children all performing solo pieces. For the children it was a big step outside of their comfort zone not only performing outside of the school but also on their own out of the security of their usual group performances or orchestra. It left parents beaming with pride and the children able to acknowledge just how much they have achieved over the year.
We aim for this to become a permanent fixture of the Gallions Arts Festival moving forward.
A massive thank you to the Lyles Local Fund for their financial contribution and support of the project.
