Gallions Summer Music Concert 2023

Music is very much alive and kicking at Gallions Primary School. The Gallions Summer Concert 2023 was an epic celebration of all things musical at the school to round off quite the year.

The school hall was filled with family members, teachers and classmates ready to cheer on the budding Gallions musicians who did not disppoint. The crowd were treated to a number of solos from young violinists and cellists performing arrangements of “Castle on a cloud” from “Les Miserables” to the theme from the classic cartoon the “Flintstones!” The children showed courage and bravery to step up and perform in front on the crowd and even if there was a slight tuning issue the children showed their resilience self correcting and finishing their performances with a smile.

Alongside the solos the Gallions ensembles also took to the stage showing how the children are able to come together and perform as a team. The KS2 choir were outstanding showing their ability to sing in 4 part cannons and harmonies with ease and excellence. The famous Bass Attack for Cello and Double Bass players were as always on fine form whilst Gallions newest ensemble the Trouble Trebles for Violins and Violas serenaded everyone with “Somewhere over the Rainbow”. The junior and senior orchestra closed the show. The seniors showed just how far they have come displaying not only the strength of their instrumental playing but also their musicianship skills that have been honed over the time at Gallions. Their arrangement and performance of “Ode to Joy” began with the children singing their parts in solfa before picking up their instruments and giving a grand performance.

It was a truly inspirational concert and joy to watch and listen to the quality of the children’s performances. Seeing the pride displayed across every member of the audience watching creating memories that will last a life time.
