At Gallions Music Trust, we love seeing how the young musicians who start their journey at Gallions Primary School continue to grow and thrive long after they leave. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, pupils are given the chance to develop a passion for music that stays with them.
Two of our wonderful alumni, Felicia and Samie, are shining examples of how far that journey can go.
Felicia, who graduated from Gallions just a few months ago, continues to play the violin at the Newham Music Afternoon Academy. She is now preparing for her Grade 3 violin exam later this year.
Her brother Samie, now in Year 10, takes weekly double bass lessons and has recently passed his Trinity Grade 4 exam. Both siblings are aiming to reach Grade 8 and dream of becoming professional musicians one day.
“Gallions Primary School gave a great opportunity to both my children. Thank you for encouraging my children to learn a new instrument, which they will continue after primary school, and will carry on enjoying. We are forever grateful as a family to all the teachers, staff and senior management team for creating a passion for learning that will last for a lifetime.” – Tsehaynesh, Mum
“A while ago at primary school I was introduced to my instrument, the double bass. I progressed so much from my first lesson to my last at Gallions. From all the small orchestral rehearsals to the large performances, I’ve noticed how useful learning new things and using them to your advantage can be. I thank Gallions Primary School for teaching me how to play the double bass, and I know from the bottom of my heart that all my experiences with it will stay with me for life.” – Samie
“I can’t remember much about Gallions in my younger years, but I can remember the day I chose my instrument. There were three options: the violin, cello, and the double bass. I chose the violin because I had recently been watching orchestras and thought it looked cool. I made so much progress through the years. The pieces got harder, and soon I realised that all the practice paid off, and how much I enjoyed playing my violin. Now that I can play, I am hoping to become an expert at the instrument in the future. I am really thankful to Gallions Primary School for the opportunity.” – Felicia
Their stories are a reminder of the lasting impact of music education — how learning an instrument can open doors, build confidence, and inspire creativity that continues long after primary school.
Once a Gallions musician, always a Gallions musician.
