Gallions Primary School feature in a national Music Education Documentary

By February 16, 2017Uncategorized

Back in spring 2016, Gallions Primary School was approached by Churchill Music! (a music charity based in North Somerset) to be part of a short film advocating for Music education in Primary Schools.  Of course we accepted without hesitation as we know that our music programme positively impacts our school environment and the learning attitudes of our pupils.

After a whole day of filming in April involving over a hundred children and teachers the production team (brandAnonymous) began the long process of editing hours of footage to create the 12-minute documentary. The film was shown for the first time at the Music & Drama Education Expo at London’s Kensington Olympia in February 2017. Churchill Music! hope that it will be a resource to encourage other primary schools to see the value in music education and incorporate it within their schools.

On the film you will hear the famous Scottish actor John Hannah narrating and presenting research from leading researchers in the fields of music education, neuroscience and Music Psychology showing that music helps us learn.

Please watch and share the film with family, friends, and colleagues:
