Michael Bochmann performing alongside our Senior String players

After the success of last year’s concerts Gallions were again invited to work with Michael Bochmann for a performance at the St George The Martyr Church in Southwark.

Rather than taking the full senior orchestra we chose a selection of our top Year 6 & Year 5 Violin and Viola players as well as two Y5 cellos. This allowed us to give valuable performance experience to some of the talented children who do not currently attend Orchestra of being part of a larger group performance and find inspiration watching professionals perform.

Bochmann visited the school a couple of weeks before the performance to practise pieces with the children and was impressed with how quickly the children had picked it up. On the day itself the children performed two pieces on their own and then accompanied Bochmann and his own quartet featuring a Piano, Viola and Cello for two pieces. The children performed extremely well and enjoyed watching the performances of the professionals too. All in all a fantastic afternoon once again demonstrating just how brilliantly talented the Gallions pupils are.

Thank you once again to Michael Bochmann ( for giving Gallions pupils this amazing experience!
